Raven-Symoné’s dad encouraged her to get a breast reduction

After revealing her cosmetic surgeries, her wife Miranda, asked what was behind the decision, as the Disney Channel alum, starring in That’s So Raven at the time, said her dad encouraged her to do it when she was being shamed for her weight.

“There was paperwork involved,” she recalled. “My dad suggested strongly that I should get my breasts reduced.”

“He was like, ‘So you don’t feel bad, is there anything that you want?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, if I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?’”

“So I got a twofer,” she continued. “It was just a mess, just being that young and the pain of it all.”

The star suffered a seizure after breast reduction

As well as undergoing liposuction surgery, the Raven-Symoné also admitted to getting breast reduction surgery after her breasts were “still too big” after losing all the weight.

However, the experience wasn’t a pleasant one for Raven, who admits she “doesn’t remember” much of what happened, due to “dissociating” from reality.

She did reveal the small details she could recall, as she stated: “I remember waking up and seeing everything … and then I just started to have this dry mouth and couldn’t breathe and went back under.”

Despite the not-so-pleasant ordeal, the 37-year-old says “I don’t know if I regret it because they grew back not to that big of a size.” She also said it was the “best decision” to stop her ‘t****** reaching her ankles.’

Raven, who rose to fame when she was just 15 years old, previously revealed that dealing with body shaming at the time left her with “so many mental issues”.

In an interview with People in 2017, she said: “I wish I was living now as a younger person. I probably wouldn’t have so many mental issues.”

She also revealed that people would body-shame her directly to her face, as she revealed: “[They said] I was too big to be doing an hour and a half concert. ‘I don’t know how she can dance being that big.’ And I was like, ‘I still did it!’ ”
